Abstract The Finnish social and health service system is in undergoing the biggest change in its history. The long preparatory work for Sote (social and health services) is currently on a pause. In the preparation of the change, leadership is emphasized, and new requirements are also set for local supervisors. Change is successful when the staff understands the need for a change and commits and adapts to it. Well-being at work, open and active communication, and staff involvement in the planning and implementation of the change facilitate commitment to it and its implementation of it. In every organization the mission of communication should be communication belongs to everyone. It requires us to develop new communications skills that consist of speaking, writing, interacting and digital skills. It also requires knowledge and understanding of different communication cultures. The purpose of this thesis was to explore the employees' experiences of change management and communications in the Siun sote organization in 2018, and to create new tools for developing change management and communications in the Siun sote organization. A qualitative research method was used in this thesis. Inductive content analysis was used to analyse the research material. A virtual development environment for supervisors was used as a functional method. As a product of the development environment, new ways to develop change management and communications were created. These include, but are not limited to, justifying the change, engaging the staff in the planning of the change and developing communications....

Communication in a work community covers the goals of the work community, its strategies, plans, actions, service, economy, decisions and the changes it faces. Communication gives access to more information and knowledge, increases understanding and the sense of fellowship. The purpose of internal communication, is to keep the employees of the work community aware of the organization’s values, strategies and visions. The aim of experimentation-driven innovation is to create new, innovative products and services, and to develop better ways to work in organizations. This is achieved by implementing the raw ideas into action in a fast phase and by developing them further or rejecting them. The goal of this thesis was to develop practical experiments to enhance the internal communication in co-operation with the work community. The aim was to develop the implementation of internal communication within the target work community. The objective of the thesis was to explore the current state of internal communication within the work community. The thesis was carried out as an action-based research activity by conducting an initial survey and by working in workshops by taking advantage of participatory methods if applicable. In the future, it would be interesting to explore how the internal communication and the culture of experimentation-driven innovation practices have developed in the work community and whether the experiments on internal communication have been utilized....

Etäjohtamisen kehittäminen Siun sotessa henkilöstön näkökulma huomioiden

keskittyvää johtamista kaivataan. Itsensä johtamisen osalta henkilöstö kaipasi enemmän tukea ja opastusta. Jatkokehitysajatuksena nousi esille itsensä johtamisen tarkempi tutkiminen sosiaali- ja terveydenhuollossa. Lisäksi etäjohtamista olisi hyvä jatkotutkia...
